Streamlined integration

Just click on “Add UI Mockup”, edit your mockup, name it and save. The mockup will show up as an image on the page, with an “edit” link under it. Every version of the mockup is saved as a page attachment, both as an image and as clean, human-readable XML data.

Mockups works with Confluence versions as far back as 2.5.1 all the way to 3.0.

Upgrading?

Here are the steps to follow for a safe upgrade:

1. Uninstall the current version (via Administration / Plugins / Balsamiq Mockups / Uninstall)
2. Upload the JAR you just downloaded
3. That's it! Your license information will be maintained.

 

Licensing and Pricing

We follow the same pricing model as Confluence (details here), for an extra-easy purchasing process. In short, Balsamiq Mockups costs more or less half of what Confluence does.

Your Mockups license and your Confluence licenses do NOT have to match, you can install a Team license of Mockups on an Enterprise license of Confluence, for instance. Full details here.

Every Mockups For Confluence license key can be used for equal number of Mockups For Desktop licenses, so that your designers and engineers will be able to work on their mockups when they are offline.

Buying Mockups For Confluence is easy, secure and should take less than 5 minutes. Credit card payments (form below) are the easiest and speediest, but we also accept Purchase Orders to be paid by US-checks or electronic wire transfers (for orders over $300), email us your PO or if you need a quote.

Software Maintenance (support & updates)

All licenses of 25 editors and higher come with 12 months of software maintenance (support and product updates). Beyond this initial 12 month period, you may renew your software maintenance for a further 12 months at our discounted renewal prices.

Note: Maintenance renewals commence from the expiration of your active maintenance period, regardless of when the maintenance renewal is purchased. If you intend to renew, we recommend renewing at least 30 days before expiration.

Maintenance licenses are not for sale yet, as new licenses include a year of maintenance and Mockups has not been for sale for more than a year yet.

 

Community & Open Source licenses

Community

Balsamiq Mockups for Confluence is free for use by official non-profit organisations and charities (proof of non-profit status is required). There are certain organisations whose purpose is to make the world a better place, and we believe in helping them achieve that.

Community licenses are designed for organisations which are:

• non-profit,
• non-government,
• non-academic,
• non-commercial,
• non-political and
• secular

in nature, that would not otherwise be able to afford Confluence. If your organisation is philanthropic in nature then you probably qualify.

To apply for a Community License, send us an email specifying the following information:

1. The registered name of your organization
2. Your organization's URL
3. a short description of your organization

Open Source

Balsamiq Studios supports and believes in the Open Source movement. Balsamiq Mockups for Confluence is free for any Open Source project to use.

There are a few requirements for an Open Source license, the main ones being:

• Established code base
• Publicly available project website
• Using an approved open source license
• Your Confluence instance will be publicly accessible

To apply for an Open Source License, send us an email specifying the following information:

1. Project Name
2. Project URL - Your project must have a public URL
3. Project Description - Please outline the goals of your project and its intended users.
4. Confluence Instance URL.
5. Open Source License(s) used - Licenses must be on the list of licenses approved by the Open Source Initiative at http://opensource.org/licenses/alphabetical
6. Where can we download your source code?

 

Licensing Terms

A commercial/academic license entitles you to:

• Deploy a single instance of Balsamiq Mockups for Confluence as a plugin to a single instance of Confluence in a production environment on 1 server accessible by the number of editors licensed
• Unlimited Mockups
• Perpetual Balsamiq Mockups for Confluence use
• Software maintenance for 12 months - including all updates and online support

Licensing fees are quoted per total number of ‘Mockups editors’. A Mockup user is by definition any user account in the Confluence system that hosts Balsamiq Mockups who is a member of the balsamiq-mockups-editors group, i.e. anyone who can create and edit mockups while logged in. Unlimited ‘anonymous users’ are permitted to view mockups on all licenses.

The following organizations are eligible for a Balsamiq Academic License:

• Educational institutions: Public or private K-12, vocational schools, correspondence schools, junior colleges, colleges, universities, or scientific or technical schools that are accredited by a national accrediting agency.
• Administrative offices & boards of education: Provincial, district, regional, national and state administrative offices and authorities of the Educational Institutions defined above.
• Public libraries
• Public museums
• Home-school programs
• Research institutes that are affiliated with an accredited university.
• Teaching hospitals that are affiliated with an accredited university.
• Training and teaching organisations that are accredited by a statutory government qualifications body.

Proof of accreditation or affiliation may be required when ordering a Balsamiq Academic License.
