Mockups For Desktop allows you to work on your UI wherever you are, regardless of your Internet connection. It works on planes, at coffee shops, and wherever you like to do uninterrupted work. Import and Export features ensure seamless integration with all the other versions of Mockups, for when you get back online. Plus you can load and save multiple mockups files, use all keyboard shortcuts and lots more.

When the evaluation period expires, you will no longer be allowed to save your work, print it or export it to PNG or PDF. Everything else will continue to work.

Balsamiq Mockups requires Adobe AIR, so please install it first.

Having problems installing? Try Installing Adobe AIR first, then installing the MockupsForDesktop.air application. If that one doesn't work for some reason (usually overly restrictive corporate proxy servers), try downloading the AIR file from our backup location instead.

You can download Mockups for Desktop for free and use all of its features for 7 days.

When the trial period expires you'll need to register it with a key in order to continue to save your mockups, export them to PNG/PDF and print them.

Licenses are tied to people, not a particular computer. Mockups for Desktop comes with free updates forever, and we usually publish a new version every Tuesday. Volume licenses are named and transferrable, and support is done via these forums. Please make sure you read our our license agreement for all the details.

Get Mockups For Desktop For Free

To apply for a free license key, you can do one of the following:

  • If your company bought Mockups for Confluence, JIRA, FogBugz or XWiki, ask your IT admin for your company's license information and use it FREE of charge.
  • If you are a do-gooder of any sort (non-profit, charity, open-source contributor, you get the idea), email us with a short blurb and we'll send you a license, FREE of charge.
  • If you are willing to demo Mockups to an audience of at least 15 professionals (at a team meeting, user group, a conference, a BarCamp), email us your info and we'll give you two licenses, one for you to keep and one to give away at the event, FREE of charge.
  • If you teach a high-school class, email us the name of your school and your class, plus the number of students in your class. We will send you a license for all of them.
  • If you are a usability professional, you might be interested in our Free Mockups for UX Training program.
  • A note to university students and professors: we currently do not offer free licenses to universities, but we'll be happy to offer you an additional 50% off any orders of 10 or more licenses. Let us know if you're interested and we'll set up a discount code for you.
