A first glimpse at Wireframing, the book!

· Posted by Leon in UX · Add a comment

You probably already know that we’re writing a book about wireframing with A Book Apart! Billy, Mike, and I have been very busy for the last year or so, and now we’re pretty excited to share some insights with you.

Today we want to show you a few of the images we’ll be using in the book and give you a preview of one of the topics 🙂

Can you guess what their purpose is?

One of the reasons for writing our book was that we couldn’t find anything that covered UI and UX design at the right level for non-designers (the primary audience for wireframes).

There are some great books and courses out there that will teach you everything you need to know to become a designer, but not a lot that will teach you just enough design to do your (non-design) job better.

So, in our chapter on UI design principles, we focus on what we think are the 3 most important design principles: Hierarchy (demonstrated using the images above), Alignment, and Clarity. There are many more principles that designers use, but we felt that learning and understanding just these 3 will provide a great return on investment for your valuable time.

To give you a taste of how we talk about them, check out the free talk that Billy gave about Pro Level UI Design Tips at the recent DesignOps Summit.

That’s all for now, but we’ll share more behind-the-scenes content soon!

If you know someone who might be interested in our book, please send them to https://balsamiq.com/book. Thanks!
