I Use Confluence/Jira, What Product is Best for Me?

Perhaps the easiest route for you and your team would be to license one of our Atlassian apps.

These apps will allow your team to attach wireframes directly to your Confluence pages or Jira issues, without any fuss. Everything is built in, so your team never has to leave your Confluence/Jira instance. It's the easiest way to wireframe in Atlassian.

If you use Confluence Cloud, Confluence Data Center, Jira Cloud, or Jira Data Center, you will need to purchase via Atlassian Marketplace. Marketplace requires that you subscribe to add-ons based on your Confluence/Jira user tier.

Atlassian will end support for Server in February 2024.

For those who have a very small subset of their Confluence/Jira users who actually need to create wireframes, our apps for Confluence/Jira might not make financial sense. If that is the case, the option below could be a better choice for your team.

Other Versions of Balsamiq Wireframes

While we offer different versions of our wireframing tool, every version is equipped with the same Balsamiq Wireframes editor. This means that you can expect the same features and functionality across the board.

If using our Balsamiq Wireframes apps directly within Confluence or Jira doesn't make sense, you have the option to use Balsamiq outside of the Atlassian platform.

Image Links are an easy and quick way to share your wireframes with others. You can create Image Links of your wireframes with Balsamiq Cloud, our standalone subscription service.

Once you have your Image Link, you can use it to embed a copy of the entire project on a Confluence page or a Jira issue.

If you're using Atlassian Data Center or Server, you can insert your Image Link by using the option to display an image from the web, and inserting your Image Link as the URL.

On the other hand, if you're using Atlassian Cloud, you will need to install the Balsamiq Wireframes app via the Atlassian Marketplace, even if you don’t intend to subscribe (you can cancel before the evaluation is over). Once installed, you can insert a new Balsamiq Wireframes macro in Confluence, or use the Balsamiq Wireframes Panel in Jira, to embed your Image Links.

Every time you update your wireframe, the Image Link will be updated, and so will the embedded image!

Using PDFs and PNG Images in Confluence and Jira

While Image Links are live embedded versions of your wireframes, you can instead choose to attach a static version of your wireframes.

Whether you go with Balsamiq Wireframes for Desktop, our standalone desktop app, or one of our subscription-based versions, every single one of them allows you to export your wireframes to PDF or PNG. You can then attach the exported PDF or PNG to a Confluence page or Jira issue, and your wireframes will display like any other image or PDF.

Keep in mind that the actual wireframing will still happen outside of Atlassian, and continued iterations of the wireframes would need to be exported and attached again.

We are happy to offer 30-day free trials on all versions, so feel free to take them all for a spin.
