Installing Balsamiq on Linux

Note: We don’t support Linux and we usually recommend our web-based app Balsamiq Cloud as a solution for Linux users.

However, the following steps might allow you to install the Windows version of Balsamiq for Desktop on most Linux distros by using Flatpak.

Prerequisites

A mainstream Linux distribution (Ubuntu / Debian / Fedora / Mint), with curl, wine and wine32.

Setup

Install Flatpak and the repositories
Install Bottles from the Flatpak repository
Download the current Balsamiq for Desktop installer
Create a new "bottle" with soda-7.0-9 runner. Be sure to use this specific runner. Other runners have problems
Install Balsamiq for Desktop "for all users"
In the event of graphics issues, try disabling DXVK and VKD3D in Bottle preferences

Current limitation

The Export PDF option doesn't work if certain UTF-8 fonts are present (emoji, some Asian Language fonts, etc).
